Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer looking to progress your career in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary consultancy? Our client, a leading property and construction practice, is seeking a Principal/Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their Billericay office, supporting projects primarily in the Healthcare and Education sectors.
The Role:
You will provide mechanical engineering expertise across the built environment, combining technical design with project management responsibilities. This is a hands-on role, allowing you to work directly with clients, manage projects from concept to completion, and contribute to sustainable, low-carbon mechanical design solutions.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality mechanical engineering designs on time and within budget

Undertake fee-earning work, providing expert technical solutions

Develop and manage project briefs, specifications, and tender reports

Project manage site works and monitor contractor performance
-
Conduct inspections of existing installations and submit condition reports
-
Prepare technical reports, design presentations, and tender documentation
-
Develop energy strategies and adopt sustainable mechanical systems
-
Use CAD, Revit, and thermal modeling software to design and coordinate systems

Ensure monthly fee invoicing and achieve office fee targets
What We Are Looking For:
-
Degree or Master’s in Engineering
-
Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or approaching, with CIBSE/energy institute membership preferred
-
Proven experience with M&E design and project delivery
-
Strong technical knowledge of legislation, codes of practice, and building regulations
-
Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and IES (Mechanical) software
-
Full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle
