A rapidly growing energy company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join their operations team. This senior role involves overseeing the operation and maintenance of electrical plant and equipment across a diverse portfolio of energy assets, including reciprocating gas engines, battery storage and renewable energy plants. The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead a team of engineers, develop electrical policies and training strategies and drive plant uptime optimisation in collaboration with Regional Managers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prioritise Health and Safety in all duties, ensuring the safety of yourself, colleagues and others affected by operations.
- Oversee the efficient and safe operation and maintenance of electrical plant and equipment in line with H&S systems, Operational Policies and OEM guidelines.
- Focus on KPIs related to electrical balance of plant equipment, identifying and implementing improvements to maintenance practices.
- Develop and implement electrical operations and maintenance procedures, enhancing data capture and analysis for continuous improvement.
- Lead, develop and motivate the Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Team, ensuring high levels of performance and development.
- Support and train Operations Area Managers on electrical matters, ensuring staff are trained and aware of H&S responsibilities.
- Assist in the development and management of budgets for electrical spare parts and inventory, ensuring cost control.
- Manage external contractors and suppliers, ensuring quality of work and performance.
- Support the handover of newly constructed sites or acquisitions into operations, ensuring readiness.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Environmental Management and Financial Systems.
Key Skills and Qualifications:

Essential:
- Educated to at least HNC level in Electrical Engineering, with significant experience in electrical power engineering or equivalent.
- Proven experience in the design, installation, operation and maintenance of electrical systems up to 33kV.
- Strong knowledge of electrical theory, applications and technologies within electricity generation and distribution.
- Working knowledge of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems.
- Excellent written and numerical skills with proficiency in IT systems.
- A valid full driving license, with the ability to travel across the UK.

Desirable:
- Exposure to higher voltages (up to 132kV) and battery energy storage systems.
- Experience with digital control and instrumentation systems.
- Familiarity with major reciprocating gas engines (e.g., MWM, Jenbacher, Siemens, MTU, Cummins, Caterpillar).
- Ability to manage maintenance change processes and customer-facing contracts.
- Experience in Root Cause Analysis and problem-solving techniques.
