About the Author: Bianca Frossell
Are you an experienced design professional with a strong understanding of CDM and Building Regulations? Our client, a leading multi-disciplinary property and construction consultancy, is seeking a Principal Designer to join their CDM and Building Regulations teams. This role is based in Colchester, with potential flexibility for Billericay or London offices.
The Role:
You will provide expert guidance across CDM and Building Regulations projects, supporting clients and internal design teams to ensure safety, compliance, and effective project delivery. You will be a key point of contact for design risk management, compliance coordination, and health and safety across a variety of projects.
Key Responsibilities

Work within CDM and Building Regulations Principal Designer teams

Provide expert advice on health and safety compliance and CDM responsibilities across all project phases

Coordinate and manage health and safety measures throughout project lifecycles, including inspections and documentation

Act as Building Regulations Principal Designer advisor for design teams

Collate, review, and comment on Design Risk compliance documents and maintain BSA Compliance Risk Registers / Project Compliance Coordination Records

Conduct periodic inspections of construction phases as required
What we are looking for

Strong technical background in architecture, building surveying, project management, or health and safety

Proven experience in CDM and Building Regulations Principal Designer roles

Collaborative mindset and excellent communication skills

Relevant professional qualifications and demonstrable expertise in compliance
