A leading UK-based energy company is seeking an experienced HV Electrical Engineer to support the operation and maintenance of a nationwide portfolio of embedded power generation and battery storage sites. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing team focused on delivering high-reliability power solutions during a pivotal time for the energy industry.
Reporting to the Senior Electrical Engineer, the HV Electrical Engineer will take ownership of maintenance activities and operational support for high-voltage equipment across multiple sites. These include both gas-powered generation units and modern battery energy storage systems, ranging from 2–50MWe at voltages of 11kV to 132kV.
You’ll work closely with contractors, field engineers and area operations managers to ensure compliance, efficiency and continuous improvement across the asset base.
Operate and maintain HV electrical systems up to 33kV (exposure to 132kV beneficial).
Support commissioning, handover and integration of new and acquired sites.
Analyse plant data to identify trends, drive performance and optimise maintenance schedules.
Provide electrical technical support to multi-disciplinary teams across the business.
Assist with budgeting, inventory planning and CMMS development.
Ensure compliance with HSE regulations, safety standards and operational procedures.
Essential:
HNC or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Hands-on experience with HV systems, particularly in power generation or process plant environments.
Strong working knowledge of CMMS systems and maintenance best practices.
Understanding of H&S regulations, ISO 9001 standards and electrical safety compliance.
Familiarity with gas engine power generation (MWM, Jenbacher, MTU, Cummins, CAT).
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Desirable:
EC&I experience or exposure to Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
IET membership or other professional accreditation.
Experience dealing with DNOs or operating at voltages above 33kV.
Knowledge of instrumentation, control systems or remote data monitoring.
